The sensation that I have when I do magic is very variable.
At first glance, when I just finished performing a magic trick I feel good or not so good, just as the game went, but when some time passes, I reflect on that and if it went well, I try to improve it, and if it went wrong, I take the most advantage of the error, since that error I will never have, be it technical, theatrical, rhythmic, etc. I perceive the failure as something gained, since it is something I learned and will not do again. As the great magician René Lavand said: “The public can forgive some mistake, what they never forgive is boredom.” That's why the mistake is not so serious, more serious is not knowing how to communicate this Art being a magician.
Art is not persuasion. Art is emotion. And that is how I see it, since I know it is absurd to convince that it is magic, it is an illusion, hence as I usually say now: I do Illusionism and I am an illusionist, and I only manipulate a reality that is not real either.
I perceive magic as art literally, because if it is not, what is it? I express my emotions and feelings through magic.
What do I feel when I do these things (illusions)? Emotions and feelings is what I feel when I perform a magic act, be it cocktail magic, close-up magic, parlor magic, etc. It is true that depending on the situation I feel one way or another, but yes, I always feel emotion and feeling. I am proud to make people feel good, that they fill with illusion and for a few moments disconnect from the real world and dream for a few moments. For me, the awe I provoke with magic is one of the most important elements of it, since without awe, magic would not exist. The sensation I have when I do magic is similar to when I see it: a sensation of beauty and emotion that makes you close your eyes and feel inside you that it moves. And that when someone asks you about what you have seen you smile remembering how beautiful it was, yes, when magic is performed, if you do it for the love of this Art, you will enjoy the same or even more than the spectator, and the illusion of knowing the secret will not be taken away from you, because the secret, as I said before, is the trick and basis of magic, although yes, it is never revealed to the profane public because they would lose the element of awe and magic would not exist. And why don't we magicians lose the illusion knowing the secret? Because we understand the meaning of this Art, the main objective and its destiny, which is to lay people. When I perform magic, I want to believe. Inside me what will gain strength is a sensation of beauty to which it will not matter exactly what secrets are behind what I have seen. Today, although I do not know what the secret is, I do not care, contrary to what happened to me just a year before writing this, since now what I seek is to enjoy and enter that world. And for me that and only that is the greatest sensation that someone who witnesses Art can take. So yes, I believe in magic. And I believe in magic because I am a person, because I know it is something more than a trick, but an illusion full of mystery, because if it were something supernatural, it would be called witchcraft. The child inside each person continues to believe, and screams every day at the hate we create.
Therefore, I like magic since I met it and also since I perform it with my own hands and I have to say that every day I like it more.
